Some Hollywood couples leave us a touch surprised

Hot reality-TV producer Mark Burnett, 46, cooed he had "found my angel" when he announced his engagement Monday to Touched by an Angel's Roma Downey, 46, who has been doing movie projects and charity work lately. The couple, neighbors who have been dating since 2004, "took a nice friendship and let it blossom into something heavenly," says matchmaker Barbie Adler, CEO of Chicago-based Selective Search. Adler gives USA TODAY the lowdown on how some of Hollywood's other surprising pairings match up:

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher

Endurance: More than 3 1/2 years. They became a couple in May 2003, and the unlikely pair celebrated their first wedding anniversary in September.

Match: Old soul (Kutcher) meets teenage heart (Moore). Plus, they have the 'told you so' glue."

Sandra Bullock and Jesse James

Endurance: More than 2 1/2 years. Photos of them jogging together in March 2004 made global headlines, and in July, the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary.

Match: Great match. They're truly, truly happy and best friends."

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

Endurance: More than 1 1/2years. The newlyweds' whirlwind romance has been going strong since April 2005.

Match: "It's working in the Hollywood bubble for now, but she's still too young, and they're not on equal footing."
